Since readers asked, here’s a shot taken in June of the same border, this time showing what I call "creeping sedum" blooming in gold. Other volunteer perennials blooming here are Mexican evening primrose in light pink and rose campion in fuchsia. The grass at the front of the border is a carex and therefore evergreen.

Love that creeping sedum. I’ve got it growing at the front of one of my beds… It’s on fire in golden yellow blooms right now. It stayed green all winter long. The only problem seems to be how fast it spreads; it pops up all over the place!
Nice! I have creeping sedum. it spreads well, but is very easy to control – I really like that in a plant!
