Fun with Ken Druse

June 7, 2009 · 9 comments

Give a listen to Ken Druse’s podcast "Real Dirt", which he describes thusly:

This week’s edition of KDRD, guest Susan Harris and Ken talk about sustainable gardening, vegetable gardening and the new White House vegetable garden — spearheaded by the First Lady. Susan and Ken wonder about the aesthetics of vegetable gardening – can a veg garden be beautiful? Of course, and that’s proven by a photo of the one at Chanticleer, below.

Then he lists a whole bunch of links – coz you know I can’t stop creating new ones.

I haven’t had the nerve to listen to the podcast myself but I vaguely remember laughing a lot and not being able to remember plant names.

You did great and it was interesting. You should give it a listen. :-) I’m glad you put that photo of Chanticleer up there. We’re driving up to Maine this week and are making a detour just to go there. It looks great!

OMIGOD you will love Chanticleer. Pam Penick can’t stop talking about it, and neither can I. It’s my favorite, period.

I just listened to the show this weekend, you were great!

I have, so far, missed Chanticleer. I have never heard a negative comment about the gardens. Martha S. also has quite a beautiful vegetable garden and sets quite a high standard. Longwood also has some beautiful vegetable patches. You sounded marvelous! A nice bit of energy in contrast to Ken’s low key approach.

Oh that’s great, I had been casting about for a gardening podcast earlier this year and could not find one. Thanks for letting us know!

Ken’s podcasts are top notch and his is the one I always steer folks to who are nebbie gardeners and iPod addicts.

I am going to have to get in the loop on Chanticleer. And podcasts.
Thanks.
