Check out this sea of salvia at Chicago’s Lurie Garden! Gorgeous, and awfully close to sustainable (its irrigation system is rarely used). Design by Gustafson Guthrie Nichol, plants by Piet Oudolf.
More from the gardens of Chicago coming soon to this blog – and about 50 others, thanks to the second annual Gardenblogger Spring Fling. For now, gotta run. We’re off to see the garden of Rick Bayless, one of this city’s most famous chefs.

Impressive display!
Beautiful photo. Got home late tonight and was too tired to blog. Will get the video up tomorrow afternoon. Take care! Shawna
Susan: I love to see designers painting with a broad brush. Does my heart good. Looks like you’re as busy as ever. Just started checking out the scene in DC for our fall trip. Nice to have a homey in the ‘hood.
Seize ya later, skater.
A wonderful photo Susan! It was a joy to visit Chicago with the Flingers. See you! Gail
After all the great Lurie Garden photos I’m kicking myself for not making it over there during CSF! Oh well. I guess I’ll just have to blog about all the other great places we went.
Yet another gorgeous photo of the Lurie!
It was great to meet you at Spring Fling, Susan!
