Fall Scene at Brookside Gardens

Brookside Gardens Japanese maple

Okay, so it’s not fall anymore, but now that the trees are bare we NEED to remember how beautiful they were not so long ago. So here’s just one of many pretty scenes at Brookside Gardens in early November, and I’ve added another one to the rotating photos in the right sidebar – a very cool thing about the Wordpress template this blog is now using.  (It’s called Thesis.)

What else was there to see on that day?  Really, nothing.  The perennial borders had been cleared of all dead plant matter, and workers were busy installing lights for their very cool Garden of Lights.

On the subject of sustainability (and Lord knows I try to stay on-topic) those mums are grown as annuals, so don’t qualify as sustainable.  The Japanese maples, though, do really, really well in this area, and I wish I had more than just one of them in my own garden.

Thanks for the reminder! Can’t wait for spring and summer to come around and plant me some hydrangeas!

That is drop-dead gorgeous Susan. I love the colour in that foliage and extreme autumnal vista. That’s benefited my morning no end.

Hi Susan, Isn’t is amazing how lovely the mounded mums look when the number and color are just right!

That’s funny Susan. I was going to make a similar post. I’ve found myself already longing for those lovely autumn vistas again. We had a spectacular season of color here in NC. Oh well, we can’t go back so here’s to next spring. By the way, I like the clean look of your blog. Very pleasing to the eye.

Yes, we do need to remember how beautiful they were and will be again. Sorry you felt so bad this week. I thought the mums, although not sustainable, were lovely against the tree.~~Dee
