"intriguing premise"

My mother has finally stopped gifting me with the books that 'she just couldn't finish'...

I have trouble putting a book down once I've started, even if it's hurting me.

'The God of Small Things' - total downer, on all counts.

'The Poisonwood Bible' - this is redemption?

'The Liar's Club' - I can't help but hope she saw the irony of giving me this one.

So I didn't read for a long time. Right now I'm reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time, after seeing the movie. Pretty amazing the liberties they take for movies. They lost a good bit of the time period in their condensing scenes by removing the secondary characters. But the book is an interesting read. I bought a study guide for it, too, because I really am interested in the society of that period, and of the roles within it.
